DayQuil

DayQuil contains acetaminophen (safe) and dextromethorphan (safe), but also pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine as a decongestant, which raises supply concerns.

DayQuil Severe contains pseudoephedrine, which can reduce milk supply by ~25% with a single dose. Standard DayQuil contains phenylephrine, which is less concerning but still worth monitoring. As with NyQuil, treating symptoms individually with single-ingredient products gives you better control. Use plain acetaminophen for pain and guaifenesin for mucus.

Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
