Albacore Tuna (White Tuna)

Albacore (white) canned tuna is fine while breastfeeding, but it has more mercury than light tuna, so stick to one serving per week rather than two or three.

1 serving (4oz) per week
The FDA classifies albacore tuna as a 'good choice' — safe but with a moderate mercury level. Nursing moms can eat up to one serving (4oz) per week. If you want to eat tuna more often, swap to canned light tuna instead, which has significantly less mercury. The omega-3 benefits are real, but the mercury tradeoff is worth managing.
