Canned Light Tuna

Canned light tuna (usually skipjack) is one of the best-choice, low-mercury fish options. You can eat it up to 2-3 times a week while breastfeeding — great for quick tuna salad lunches.

2-3 servings per week
Canned light tuna is mostly skipjack, which is a smaller, shorter-lived tuna with much lower mercury than albacore (white) or bigeye. The FDA lists it as a best-choice fish, making it one of the most affordable and convenient safe seafood options for breastfeeding moms. Just check labels — if it says 'white' or 'albacore,' that's a different product with more mercury.
