Tums (Calcium Carbonate)

Tums is safe during breastfeeding and actually doubles as a calcium supplement. It's a great first-line option for heartburn and acid reflux.

Calcium carbonate antacids (Tums, Rolaids) are safe during breastfeeding. They're not significantly absorbed systemically and provide a bonus of dietary calcium. Postpartum acid reflux is common. Tums is a good first-line option — if symptoms are severe or persistent, discuss with your provider about stepping up to famotidine or omeprazole.
