Tiramisu
Tiramisu is generally fine while breastfeeding, but it contains espresso and sometimes a splash of marsala wine or rum. Factor the caffeine into your daily total and enjoy a reasonable portion.
Count caffeine from espresso toward your 300mg daily limit
Tiramisu is made with espresso-soaked ladyfinger cookies, mascarpone cheese, eggs, sugar, and sometimes a small amount of marsala wine or rum. The espresso contributes meaningful caffeine — a standard portion may contain 30-60mg. The alcohol in traditional recipes is typically minimal and used in the cream filling, leaving very little in the final dish. An occasional slice is fine; just be mindful of total caffeine.
Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
