Soy

Soy is safe for most breastfeeding moms. It's a top-8 allergen, but the vast majority of babies tolerate it just fine through breast milk.

A small percentage of babies — particularly those with cow's milk protein allergy — may also react to soy protein through breast milk. If your baby has been diagnosed with a milk protein allergy or you notice symptoms like blood in the stool, rash, or excessive fussiness, talk to your pediatrician about trialing a soy elimination. For most moms and babies, soy is completely fine.
