Sheep's Milk Cheese

Sheep's milk cheeses (like manchego, pecorino, and many artisan varieties) are safe while breastfeeding when made from pasteurized milk. They tend to be higher in protein, calcium, and certain vitamins than cow's milk cheese. If you have a cow's milk allergy or sensitivity, sheep's milk proteins are different and may be better tolerated — though cross-reactivity is possible.
