Shark

Shark is on the FDA's 'avoid' list for breastfeeding moms due to very high mercury levels. Skip it entirely while nursing.

Shark is a large apex predator that lives a long time and accumulates massive amounts of methylmercury through the food chain. The FDA advises nursing mothers to avoid it entirely. Mercury readily transfers to breast milk and can harm your baby's developing brain and nervous system. Choose salmon, shrimp, or other low-mercury fish instead.
