Selenium Supplement
Selenium at recommended dietary levels (70 mcg/day for breastfeeding women) is safe and important for thyroid function and immune health — both yours and your baby's. Most people get enough selenium from food (Brazil nuts, seafood, meat). High-dose supplementation (above 400 mcg/day) can cause selenosis — toxic symptoms including hair loss and nail brittleness.
70 mcg/day recommended; do not exceed 400 mcg/day
Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
