Salsa

Salsa is safe and a great condiment while breastfeeding! Even spicy salsa won't affect your baby — the capsaicin and other flavor compounds don't transfer to breast milk in troublesome amounts.

Salsa made from tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalapeños, and lime juice contains only breastfeeding-safe ingredients. The spicy heat is a myth concern — capsaicin doesn't transfer to breast milk in meaningful amounts. Fresh salsa (pico de gallo) is especially nutritious, providing vitamins C and A.
