Raw Eggs
Raw eggs are safe for your breastfed baby — Salmonella doesn't pass through breast milk. The risk is entirely to you: getting food poisoning while caring for a newborn is rough. Use pasteurized eggs in raw applications when possible.
Raw eggs can carry Salmonella, but this bacteria does not transfer through breast milk. Any illness from raw eggs would be yours alone, not your baby's. That said, getting seriously ill from Salmonella while caring for a newborn is genuinely difficult. Pasteurized eggs (available in most grocery stores) are a good solution for raw applications like cookie dough, Caesar dressing, or smoothies.
Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
