Quinoa

Quinoa is an excellent food while breastfeeding! It's a complete protein — meaning it contains all essential amino acids — plus iron, folate, and magnesium that nursing moms need.

Quinoa is technically a seed that cooks like a grain and is one of the few plant foods that provides complete protein. It's also gluten-free, making it a great option for moms who are avoiding gluten. High in iron, folate, magnesium, and fiber, quinoa is a nutritional workhorse for postpartum recovery and supporting milk production. Rinse it well before cooking to remove the bitter natural coating (saponins).
