Prenatal Vitamin
Continuing your prenatal vitamin through breastfeeding is highly recommended. It covers multiple nutritional gaps common in new moms — especially iron, folate, iodine, and DHA.
The AAP and ACOG recommend continuing prenatal vitamins throughout breastfeeding. They're formulated to cover the increased nutrient demands of lactation. Choose one with iodine (150–290mcg) and DHA if possible, as these are often low in breastfeeding women's diets. Not all prenatals contain adequate iodine — check the label.
Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
