Poke Bowl
Poke bowls are generally fine while breastfeeding! The main thing to watch is the fish type — salmon poke is great, ahi (yellowfin) poke should be limited to once a week, and bigeye tuna should be skipped.
Poke bowls are popular raw fish dishes, and the raw preparation is not the concern while breastfeeding (unlike during pregnancy). What matters is mercury content. Salmon poke is an excellent choice — low mercury, high omega-3s. Yellowfin ahi poke is okay once a week. Avoid if labeled bigeye tuna. The toppings and rice are all fine.
Safer Alternatives:
Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
