Pho

Pho is a wonderful choice while breastfeeding! This nourishing Vietnamese noodle soup is warm, hydrating, and packed with protein and minerals from the long-simmered bone broth.

Myth: The barely-cooked beef slices in pho are a pregnancy concern, not a breastfeeding one. Foodborne pathogens do not pass through breast milk.

Pho is made from a slow-simmered broth (beef or chicken), rice noodles, and your choice of protein. The bone broth base is rich in minerals and collagen. Thinly sliced beef in traditional pho may be rare, but since foodborne pathogens don't pass through breast milk, this is not a concern while nursing. The fresh herb garnishes (basil, cilantro) add nutritional value. Enjoy the whole bowl!
