Peanuts

Peanuts are safe to eat while breastfeeding! Current research actually suggests that eating peanuts during nursing may help protect your baby from developing a peanut allergy later.

Myth: Eating peanuts while breastfeeding does NOT cause peanut allergies. Early exposure through breast milk may actually be protective against allergy development.

The AAP no longer recommends avoiding common allergens during breastfeeding. Early allergen exposure through breast milk may promote immune tolerance. The only exception: if your baby has already been diagnosed with a peanut allergy, consult your pediatrician. Peanuts are a great source of protein and healthy fats for nursing moms.
