Peanut Butter
Peanut butter is safe and nutritious while breastfeeding! Current research actually suggests that eating peanuts while nursing may help reduce your baby's risk of developing a peanut allergy.
Myth: Eating peanut butter while breastfeeding does NOT cause peanut allergies in babies. In fact, exposure through breast milk may actually be protective.
The AAP no longer recommends that breastfeeding mothers avoid common allergens. Early exposure through breast milk may promote tolerance. The only exception: if your baby has already been diagnosed with a peanut allergy, follow your pediatrician's guidance. Peanut butter is an excellent source of protein and healthy fats for nursing moms.
Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
