Oregano Oil
Oregano the herb in cooking is perfectly safe, but concentrated oregano oil is a different story — it's potent enough to potentially reduce milk supply and cause other effects.
📉Concentrated oil form may reduce supply. Culinary herb use is safe.
Oil of oregano is highly concentrated (much stronger than the dried herb) and contains carvacrol and thymol at levels that can have real physiological effects. It's traditionally listed as an anti-galactagogue. High doses can also cause GI irritation and interact with blood thinners. Dried oregano or fresh herb in cooking is completely safe and not a supply concern.
Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
