Mulled Wine

Mulled wine is heated and spiced, but heating does not eliminate the alcohol — it reduces it only slightly. A cup of mulled wine counts as roughly one standard drink. The same breastfeeding guidelines apply: wait at least 2 hours after finishing a glass before nursing.

A common misconception is that heating wine 'cooks off' the alcohol. In reality, simmering wine for 15 minutes removes only about 60% of the alcohol — a significant amount remains. Mulled wine typically retains 7–10% ABV depending on preparation. Treat it as a standard alcoholic drink.
