Milk Thistle

Milk thistle is used as both a liver support herb and a galactagogue. It's generally well-tolerated, though breastfeeding-specific evidence is limited.

📈Some evidence of modest milk supply increase.
The active compound silymarin has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Some moms use it to support liver health postpartum and as a gentle galactagogue. One small study showed an increase in milk production. Generally considered low-risk, but data is limited. Those with ragweed allergy should use caution as cross-reactivity is possible.

Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
