Manuka Honey

Manuka honey is safe for breastfeeding moms! The honey restriction only applies to babies eating honey directly — it does NOT apply to what you eat. Botulism spores don't pass through breast milk.

Myth: The 'no honey' rule for infants applies to babies eating honey directly. It does NOT apply to breastfeeding moms — botulism spores cannot pass through breast milk.

Manuka honey is a premium honey from New Zealand with high levels of methylglyoxal (MGO) and antimicrobial properties. It's safe to eat while breastfeeding — the no-honey rule for babies under 12 months applies only to babies consuming honey directly. Your digestive system destroys botulinum spores before they can be absorbed. You can enjoy manuka honey (and all honey) freely while nursing.
