Kratom
Avoid kratom while breastfeeding. The FDA has issued strong warnings about kratom safety, and no breastfeeding safety data exists. Opioid-like compounds in kratom transfer into breast milk and can harm infants.
Kratom contains mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, compounds that act on opioid receptors. Infants exposed to opioid-acting substances through breast milk can develop neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome, respiratory depression, and sedation. The FDA has issued warnings about kratom, including detection of heavy metals and Salmonella contamination. No safe dose during breastfeeding has been established.
Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
