Kefir

Kefir is safe while breastfeeding. It's a fermented dairy drink rich in probiotics, calcium, and B vitamins — a great option for gut health during the postpartum period.

Kefir contains live probiotic bacteria, which benefit your digestive health. The beneficial bacteria in kefir don't pass through breast milk in large amounts, but your improved gut health can indirectly benefit your baby. The small amount of alcohol produced by kefir fermentation (typically under 1%) is not a breastfeeding concern.
