Jasmine Essential Oil

Jasmine essential oil has traditionally been used to suppress lactation — jasmine flowers applied to the breasts have been shown in studies to reduce prolactin levels. Use with caution if you intend to continue breastfeeding. Diffusing in small amounts is generally fine, but avoid topical application on or near the chest.

📉Jasmine has been shown to reduce prolactin and may suppress milk production when applied topically near the chest.
Studies have shown that jasmine flowers applied to the breasts can suppress lactation by reducing serum prolactin levels. While the essential oil is more concentrated than fresh flowers, the effect on milk supply is a legitimate concern. If you are trying to maintain or increase supply, avoid jasmine essential oil. If you are weaning, it may actually be helpful. For aromatherapy use only (diffused, not topical near breasts), the risk is lower.

Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
