Hookah

Hookah smoking carries the same nicotine and toxin concerns as cigarette smoking during breastfeeding. A single hookah session can deliver more nicotine and carbon monoxide than a full pack of cigarettes.

📉Nicotine from hookah suppresses prolactin and milk supply.
Hookah smoke contains nicotine, carbon monoxide, and combustion toxins — similar to cigarette smoke but often in higher quantities per session. A 1-hour hookah session delivers the equivalent of 100–200 cigarette puffs. Nicotine passes into breast milk and suppresses milk supply. The cooling effect of water filtration does not remove nicotine or most toxic compounds. Hookah smoking around the baby also creates secondhand smoke exposure.
