Hemorrhoid Cream (Preparation H)

Hemorrhoid creams are safe during breastfeeding. Postpartum hemorrhoids are extremely common, and topical treatment with Preparation H or similar products has negligible systemic absorption.

Preparation H contains phenylephrine (vasoconstrictive) and/or hydrocortisone, depending on the formulation. Topical/rectal application results in minimal systemic absorption — well below amounts that would reach breast milk at meaningful levels. Safe for postpartum use. Witch hazel pads are an even simpler natural option for postpartum hemorrhoid discomfort.
