Gin
Gin is a distilled spirit, typically 37–47% ABV, and follows the same guidelines as any other alcohol. One standard drink (1.5oz) with a 2-hour wait before nursing is the way to go. The juniper botanicals in gin don't have any special effects on milk or baby.
1 standard drink (1.5oz at ~40% ABV); wait 2+ hours before nursing
Like vodka, gin is a clear spirit and a 1.5oz pour at 40% ABV is one standard drink. Gin and tonics made at bars are often made with 2oz of gin, so factor that in. The botanicals used to flavor gin (juniper, coriander, citrus peel) are in trace amounts in a drink and don't raise any specific concerns for breastfeeding. The alcohol content is the primary consideration.
Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
