Fish Sauce

Fish sauce is used in small amounts as a condiment and flavoring, and it's completely safe while breastfeeding. The tiny amounts used in cooking don't meaningfully contribute to mercury intake.

Fish sauce is a fermented condiment used in Southeast Asian cooking. Despite being made from fish, it's used in such small quantities (teaspoons) that any mercury contribution to your diet is negligible. Sodium content is the only real consideration — it's very salty, but that's a general health concern, not a breastfeeding-specific one. Use it freely in cooking.
