Fish Oil

Fish oil is safe and beneficial during breastfeeding. It's an excellent source of DHA and EPA that supports your baby's brain development through your milk.

Fish oil supplements are well-studied during breastfeeding and are considered safe. DHA from fish oil transfers into breast milk and supports infant brain and eye development. Choose refined, molecular distilled fish oil from reputable brands to minimize any mercury or PCB contamination. Cod liver oil also provides vitamins A and D — monitor total vitamin A intake if using it. Algae-based DHA is an equivalent vegan alternative.

Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
