Edamame

Edamame is an excellent snack or starter while breastfeeding! These young soybeans are packed with protein, fiber, folate, and iron — all nutrients nursing moms need.

Edamame is simply steamed or boiled immature soybeans. They're one of the most nutritious plant foods available and a great source of complete protein and key micronutrients. Soy is safe for most breastfeeding moms — the small subset of babies with confirmed soy protein sensitivity is the only exception. Most commonly served lightly salted, which is fine.
