Citrus Fruits

Citrus fruits are safe while breastfeeding! The myth that they cause rashes or stomach upset in babies through breast milk isn't supported by evidence.

Myth: Citrus does NOT cause diaper rash or stomach upset in breastfed babies through breast milk. True citrus sensitivity in nursing infants is extremely rare.

Citric acid doesn't pass into breast milk in significant amounts. While extremely rare cases of sensitivity have been anecdotally reported, there's no scientific evidence linking maternal citrus consumption with infant rashes or GI distress. Citrus fruits are packed with vitamin C, which is great for you. Enjoy your OJ!
