Cinnamon Essential Oil
Cinnamon essential oil is one of the more irritating essential oils — it's a strong skin sensitizer that should always be heavily diluted (0.5% or less in a carrier oil) and is not recommended for use around infants. While moderate topical use by a breastfeeding mother is likely low risk, it should not be diffused around babies.
Cinnamon bark oil in particular is highly irritating to mucous membranes and skin. It can cause burns if applied undiluted. The safety data for breastfeeding mothers is limited. Use it only in very small, diluted amounts on non-breast areas away from your baby. Never use it for aromatherapy in a room with an infant.
Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
