Chemical Peel

Superficial chemical peels using glycolic or lactic acid in low concentrations are generally considered low risk while breastfeeding. However, medium and deep peels using higher concentrations of TCA or phenol should be avoided — they have significantly higher systemic absorption and phenol in particular has cardiac risks.

Superficial peels (20–30% glycolic or lactic acid) have minimal systemic absorption and are considered low risk. Medium-depth peels (35–50% TCA) and deep phenol peels carry substantially higher absorption and are not recommended while breastfeeding. Always tell your aesthetician or dermatologist that you are nursing before any treatment.

Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
