CBD Topical

CBD topicals have minimal systemic absorption and are unlikely to significantly affect breast milk. However, they're not formally studied, and product quality and THC contamination are real concerns.

Topical CBD products (creams, balms, salves) applied to skin have very low systemic absorption — far less than ingested or inhaled CBD. The main concerns are: (1) quality control — many CBD products contain unlabeled THC, and (2) lack of safety data during breastfeeding. If using a topical for localized pain or inflammation, avoid applying to the nipple or breast areas. Choose reputable, third-party tested products. The FDA still advises caution.
