Cacao Nibs
Cacao nibs are safe while breastfeeding in moderate amounts. They contain some caffeine and theobromine, but typical portions are well within safe limits. And they're packed with magnesium and antioxidants!
Count caffeine toward daily 300mg limit; typical amounts are well within range
Cacao nibs are crushed raw cacao beans — essentially very dark, unprocessed chocolate. A tablespoon contains about 5-10mg of caffeine and theobromine. This is far below the 300mg daily caffeine limit. Cacao is one of the richest dietary sources of magnesium, which many breastfeeding moms are deficient in, plus iron, antioxidant flavanols, and fiber.
Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
