Bupropion (Wellbutrin)

Bupropion may reduce milk supply and has an active metabolite that accumulates in breast milk more than the parent drug. It's usable with monitoring, but not the first choice. Consult your healthcare provider.

📉May reduce milk supply in some women. Monitor supply after starting.
Bupropion and its active metabolite hydroxybupropion both transfer into breast milk. Some case reports suggest possible infant seizure risk (extremely rare) and a potential reduction in milk supply. Despite these concerns, many providers use it successfully during breastfeeding with monitoring, particularly when depression and/or smoking cessation are both goals. Document any change in milk supply.

Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
