Brie

Brie is completely safe to eat while breastfeeding! The pregnancy restriction on soft ripened cheeses doesn't apply once your baby is born.

Myth: Many new moms think they still can't eat brie while breastfeeding. This is a pregnancy restriction only — Listeria doesn't transfer through breast milk.

During pregnancy, soft cheeses like brie are avoided due to the risk of Listeria, which can cross the placenta and cause serious harm. After delivery, Listeria bacteria cannot pass through breast milk, so the restriction no longer applies. Enjoy your brie — on a charcuterie board, baked, or however you like it.
