Boba / Bubble Tea
Boba tea is okay occasionally, but be mindful of the caffeine in the tea base and the high sugar content. Caffeine does pass into breast milk, so keep your total daily caffeine intake in check.
Occasional; factor caffeine into your total daily 300mg limit
Boba tea is typically made with a black or green tea base — both contain caffeine. A large cup can contain 50-100mg of caffeine or more. When combined with other caffeine sources (coffee, chocolate), it can add up. The tapioca pearls themselves are caffeine-free starch. Consider caffeine-free versions (fruit-based or herbal) as a lower-risk alternative. The high sugar content is a nutritional (not safety) consideration.
Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
