Biotin

Biotin is safe during breastfeeding and popular for postpartum hair loss. The postpartum hair shedding you experience is hormonal, not a biotin deficiency — but supplementing is still safe.

Biotin is a water-soluble B vitamin that's safe at typical supplement doses. Breastfeeding women need 35mcg/day. Most supplements contain 1000–10,000mcg, which is far above the requirement but hasn't shown toxicity. Important: high-dose biotin can interfere with certain lab tests (thyroid, troponin, etc.) — tell your provider if you take it before any bloodwork.
