Basil is safe in culinary amounts during breastfeeding. It's a nutritious herb and poses no risk to your baby at normal dietary levels.

Culinary basil is safe during breastfeeding. Holy basil (tulsi) is a different variety used medicinally in Ayurveda and has adaptogenic properties — it's generally considered safe but is less studied. Basil essential oil is not recommended for internal use while breastfeeding. Standard fresh or dried basil in cooking is completely fine.
