Antifungal Cream (OTC)
OTC antifungal creams are safe during breastfeeding. They're minimally absorbed topically and are actually used to treat nipple thrush in breastfeeding moms.
OTC antifungal creams (clotrimazole, miconazole, terbinafine) have very low systemic absorption. They're routinely used to treat nipple and breast thrush in nursing mothers. If treating the nipple area, wipe off gently before feeding. Miconazole (Monistat) vaginal preparations are also safe for postpartum yeast infections.
Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
