Alfalfa
Alfalfa is a traditional galactagogue and a nutrient-rich herb. Culinary amounts (like sprouts in a salad) are considered safe; high-dose supplements warrant more caution.
📈Traditionally used to support milk supply; often included in lactation tea blends.
Alfalfa contains phytoestrogens and a range of vitamins and minerals. It's used in many lactation teas and blends. High doses of alfalfa supplements may have mild estrogenic effects. Sprouts carry a foodborne illness risk for immunocompromised individuals, though this risk doesn't pass through breast milk. Supplement doses are not well studied.
Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
