Albuterol Inhaler

Albuterol inhalers are safe during breastfeeding. Inhaled albuterol reaches the lungs directly with minimal systemic absorption, so very little reaches your milk. Consult your healthcare provider.

Inhaled albuterol is delivered directly to the airways, and systemic absorption is minimal compared to oral or IV routes. Amounts reaching breast milk are very low. Well-controlled asthma is important during breastfeeding — uncontrolled asthma poses more risk than the medication. Use your inhaler as prescribed without concern.

Always confirm with your doctor or lactation consultant before making dietary changes while breastfeeding.
